In General Lines
This course is a look on the history of samba as a form of resistance. We will listen to records, read articles and images to thing and reflect upon Brazil under the perspective of this people that built and builds the Brazilian history.
It works like this
This a political social proposal with educational, artistic and cultural goals, so that a conscientious look about Brazil can be produced, seeing samba as a form of education. The course if organized with a series of activities like percussion workshops (with surdo, pandeiro, tamborim, agogô, ganzá, reco, atabaque e outros instrumentos de percussão), listening of records, reading about the history of composers, as well as studies and research regarding percussion and samba. It has two main dimensions: one turned to the study of rhythm, percussion, melody, and Brazilian music history; the other turned to a political discussion about the making of the Brazilian society and how it has been portrayed, built, and developed within samba.
This course aims to build a processo of popular education through the means of social awareness.

Everybody that want to know more about ancestrality of Black people, the basis of samba.
