Readings on Paulo Freire:
a trilogy of reference
In a few words…
This is a proposal regards readings about the life and work of the Patron of Brazilian Education, Paulo Freire, emphasizing its legacy on teacher’s education. The course will be organized based on the book Leituras de Paulo Freire: uma trilogia de referência, authored by its coordinator, proposing discussions based on three publications: Pedagogia da Autonomia (Freire, 1996), Paulo Freire: uma história de vida (Freire, Nita, 2006) e o Dicionário Paulo Freire (Streck, Redin, Zitkoski, 2018). The course will be developed in a theoretical-practical way, employing methodological proposals that “reinvent” Freire’s thought in regards to teachers development, and establishing relationships within the actions of teaching, learning, and researching.
How does it work?
The base of this program is the book Leituras de Paulo Freire: uma trilogia de referência, establishing relationships between reading and context. The book is included in the price of the program.
At each meeting, you will be invited to exercise a “participative research”, that means, you will be challenged to make use of instruments and procedures, such as the Register Dairy, the Group Dialogue, and Pedagogical Letters in order for you to understand and exercise your own practice as a place of authorship and formal knowledge production. Throughout this process you will be guided to learn from your own experience and exercise your writing in the form of dialogue. There will be suggestions of additional material to support and enhance the understanding of the content, both through readings and videos.
While accessing the material before the class, you will be able to send an email posing questions that you would want to be answered in the online-class.
At the end of each meeting, an activity will be proposed to orient the systematization of your theoretical-practical reflection, aiming to deepen of your studies. Additionally, the meeting will give you elements to support the development of authorship of your own thoughts through writing a Pedagogical Letter.
Target audience
